Last week I stepped out of my clean-drawings-painstakingly box and experimented with a two-inch paint brush, some big paper, guache, and the first typography assignment of the year:
Can you guess the song?
I know, I know: technically lettering is not typography (scroll down to #9). Either way, I'm so happy we finally get to do some hand-lettering in type class! It was pretty time consuming to scan it all in, and I'm still on the first draft...but that's what I've been working on. It's still looking a little too 'Art Project' right now.
In other news - I'm trying really hard to finally get some sort of portfolio for my design work started, since the end of the program is starting to loom over me. lol. What a beast it's been, so far! So daunting to set up, right? I'm like - "Wait, I have to shoot three years of my favorite projects? Sort through them discerningly, and then organize them in a please-hire-me-potential-clients kinda way?" I'm a little overwhelmed - especially at the thought that just when I was ramping up here, it appears that I used the web address for what should be my eventual homepage for this blog, which is not so good because it means I'll have to move it. Again. Doh.
Oh, the plight of a designer-to-be. :)
